Anatomy ICD-10 is built by Advanced Management Solutions. It exists to close a gap that has sat between medical education, clinical workflow and health informatics for decades: a clinician can point at a structure in the body, but pointing does not produce a classification code.
Why this is harder than a lookup table
A 3D atlas is organised topographically and continuously in space. ICD-10 is a variable-axis statistical classification built for epidemiological tracking, where aetiology and circumstance outrank anatomical location. Clicking one organ therefore cannot return one chapter of codes. A lung yields malignancy, metastatic deposits, occupational disease, infection and traumatic laceration at once, each from a different chapter, each governed by different sequencing rules.
How the bridge works
- Every selectable mesh carries a Foundational Model of Anatomy identifier, so geometry is bound to a formal spatial ontology rather than a label.
- Each FMA concept resolves to its SNOMED CT Body structure concept.
- Disorders are retrieved by the SNOMED CT Finding site attribute, which is a defining relationship in the terminology rather than an editorial association.
- Disorders resolve to ICD-10 through the rule-based complex map maintained jointly by the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the WHO, carrying its mapping advice with it.

Code selection and sequencing follow the Canadian Coding Standards for ICD-10-CA and CCI published by the Canadian Institute for Health Information. Summaries of the standards that shape what the explorer shows are published in the coding standards reference, with attribution to CIHI.
Fondations ouvertes
The architecture is deliberately built on open ontologies and open geometry sources so the platform can be hosted, audited and extended independently, rather than depending on a proprietary condition taxonomy that cannot be exported or verified.
