Chapter IX - Circulatory
Strokes: hemorrhagic, ischemic and unspecified
Stroke coding turns on mechanism, and residual deficits are coded separately.
Qué significa esto en la práctica
- Ischaemic infarction (I63.-) and non-traumatic intracerebral haemorrhage (I61.-) are distinct - do not default to an unspecified code when imaging establishes the mechanism.
- Neurological deficits present at the end of the episode are coded in addition to the stroke itself.
