Diagnosis typing for the DAD
Inpatient abstracts type every diagnosis so that comorbidity burden and timing can be analysed.
Qué significa esto en la práctica
- Type (M) is the most responsible diagnosis - the single condition most responsible for the patient's stay. Where several qualify, choose the one accounting for the greatest length of stay or resource use.
- If no intervention was performed, the first-listed diagnosis becomes the MRDx. If no definite diagnosis was reached, the main symptom, abnormal finding or problem is selected instead.
- Type (1) is a pre-admit comorbidity; type (2) is a post-admit comorbidity.
- Prefix 5 marks a post-admit comorbidity that arose before the first qualifying intervention; prefix 6 marks one that arose during or after it. Obstetrical conditions (O00-O99) are excluded.
